Mackenzie Aamodt joined the Gorge Commission in December 2023 as a Land Use Planner. Growing up in Vancouver, WA, Mackenzie’s love for the Columbia River Gorge began at an early age. She holds a B.A. in Religion from Walla Walla University and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University with a focus on Land Use and a graduate certificate in Collaborative Governance.
Mackenzie’s past work experience includes education, small business wholesale account management, and chaplaincy. The common thread in her unique background is her passion for working with people on a personal and local level. Mackenzie is interested in how the Pacific Northwest is evolving and finding creative solutions to current challenges through collaboration and education around natural resource management and urban growth.
In her free time, you can find Mackenzie hiking a local trail, cross-country skiing, or exploring a new corner of the PNW in her campervan.
