Our Purpose

We aim to protect and improve the scenic, natural, cultural, and recreational resources of the Columbia River Gorge. We also encourage growth in urban areas and allow economic development throughout the Gorge that respects and protects these resources.

We oversee land use in the National Scenic Area by following our Management Plan closely. We understand the strong connections between people, plants, animals, and the lands and waters of this place. Our goal is to make decisions to foster a balanced ecosystem where everyone can thrive.
