Tamara, aka “Tammy”, and her husband Joe have settled in Carson, Washington and appreciate the beautiful Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area every day.  Since arriving to the Gorge in 2008, their family originally lived in Husum, Washington in Klickitat County until 2019 when they completed their home and were able to move permanently to Skamania County.  Tammy has been very active in the communities of the Gorge through involvement in the Rotary Club of White Salmon – Bingen, the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce and the bi-state regional advocacy organization OneGorge.  She also served over three years as an EMT/Firefighter for her local Klickitat County Fire District 3, which gave her a tremendous respect for all volunteers in the region who support both locals and visitors.

Raised in Gresham, Oregon, Tammy graduated magna cum laude from Linfield College with a BA in Business and has a professional background in banking, training and community & government relations.  Initially when moving to the Gorge, she put her creative side to use and opened a small business as a professional photographer.  This gave her a deep appreciation for the beauty of the region and introduced her to many different people and organizations that work to protect the natural and cultural resources of the area.  Later, her work with the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce, Insitu and other businesses shifted her efforts to better understand the area’s rural economy.  She always keeps in mind the balance that is needed to help community members and businesses thrive while maintaining the amazing scenery and habitats that exist within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
